Jody Edmondson Stayner is the wife of the famous kidnap victim, Steven Stayner, Jody’s husband was just seven years old when he was kidnapped by a child molester named Kenneth Parnell in Merced, California, in 1972.
Stayner explained that the child molester convinced him that he had been released to him legally by his parents. Stayner was with him for seven years before he finally escaped.
Steven Stayner said in an interview that Kenneth gave him freedom of movement, but as a 7 year old kid he was convinced with Kenneth cooked up story that he had been released to him legally. After seven years of captivity, Steven finally decided to escape when Kenneth brought home a five year old Timothy White.
The 14 year old Steven Stayner said he had intentionally sabotaged countless of Kenneth’s abducting processes, but he was powerless during the Timothy White abduction. Steven did all he could and made sure he escaped with Timothy White.
After escaping, Steven’s life couldn’t get back to normal as he was bullied and humiliated by other students. The poor hero later dropped out of school and almost became a drunkard.

Jody Edmondson married Steven Stayner in 1985, Steven was 20 and she was just 17 years old at that time. Irrespective of what Steven had gone through, Jody was ready to start a family with him. Sadly
Their relationship later ended in divorce and Jody remarried while Steven stayed single till he died in a motorcycle accident when he was coming back from work in 1989. The two couples had two children before they separated.
